We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a series of workshops presented by Jeanette Appleton. As a textile artist exhibiting and lecturing in the UK and abroad, Jeanette has gained her international reputation specialising in felting techniques and transformation of materials. Jeanette lives in France but has a base in Hitchin so will be holding regular workshops here at Art Van Go during her UK visits. Many of you may have recently seen Jeanette at Art in Action where she was one of the featured artists in the Textile Marquee.
Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 10.

Through exercises and personal tutorials, participants will explore new approaches and working methods, creating many ideas for future one off textiles, interior or fashion items. Throughout the workshop the areas to be looked at include the potential of embroidery techniques at each stage of the felting process; the layering of merino tops and bonding of stitched fabric and threads within the surface; the use of pre-felts for patchwork and appliqué and the potential for further embellishment by hand stitch. |

This workshop will look at colour in felt-making. Discover the suprises of colour through experimentation with colour mixing of dyed Merino tops by hand or with carders. Also looking at layering tints and tones by bonding different fabrics and threads to the surface. A design will be developed through this process, creating many textile ideas for the interior, fashion or art works. |
