fuseFX
gossamer fusible web
A very fine web of heat-fusible fibre in white or black that will bond two layers together, or can be used as a surface decoration.
Bonding two layers:
- Place a sheet of fuseFX over one layer.
- Place the second layer over the fuseFX.
- Cover this 'sandwich' with a piece of baking parchment.
- With the iron on COTTON* setting, slowly iron over the baking parchment.
- The two layers will now be bonded together.
This feature can be used to successfully bond lightweight or heavier fabrics e.g. chiffons or felt. Sheers will bond with little or no change to their appearance. Lightweight fabrics can be invisibly bonded to heavier fabrics. There will be little or no alteration to the handle of the fabrics.
Bonding embellishments:
- Place a sheet of fuseFX over one surface.
- Position sequins, mica flakes or fibres etc over the fuseFX
- Cover with baking parchment
- With the iron on COTTON* setting, slowly iron over the baking parchment
- The embellishments will now be bonded to the base surface
Decorative effects
- White fuseFX can be coloured with Jaquard Fabric Paints, Golden Fluid, Acrylics, Dye-na-Flow or similar.
- Black or White fuseFX, or coloured fuseFX, can be bonded as surface embellishment to create a contrasting webbed effect, or between two layers of sheer fabrics as a decorative bond intended to be visible.
*Iron temperature:start with the iron on a cooler setting and test.
Increase temperature to suit various surfaces and desired effect.
Try the effects on papers, plastics, shims, foils, etc.
