TEXTILES IN FOCUS 08
It was the seventh year of Textiles in Focus and it was generally thought of as the 'best yet'. We had more traders selling those products which are hard to find, together with our usual inspirational exhibitions and displays. Tracy Franklin delivered an enthralling lecture, and visitors were able to learn new techniques and ideas at the twenty eight two-hour workshops.
The organisers were excited and overwhelmed by the number of high standard entries to the competition/auction. Thank you to everyone. Every piece of work was applauded by the visitors who were genuinely amazed that people had been so generous as to donate their work to be auctioned.

As you can see from the photos, the work was displayed to enable the visitors to vote on their favourite piece. The votes were counted and the well deserved winners were announced prior to the auction. We had so many gifts donated by well wishers and traders to fill our Treasure Chest that we had enough to give out three prizes.
Congratulations to the winners:
(1) Green embellished bag :: Janet Nowell, Kings Lynn, Norfolk

(2) Embroidered fold-up book :: Jenny Furlong, Chatteris, Cambs

(3) Silk fibred shawl :: Jean Jarvis, Cottenham, Cambs

Best of all we raised £880 once all the money had come in from the auction. This is being donated to Cancer Research.
Thank you to everyone who played their part in making Textiles in Focus 08 such as successful event and a big thank you to Art Van Go for their support for the event and for taking the photos and putting them up on their web site. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
