Floral Aspects
The art of Aileen Lawrence and Roger Reynolds
A special exhibition of work from two of our
most popular watercolour artists
July 29th - Sept 3rd 2011

Flora is the main inspiration for the artwork of both Aileen Lawrence and
Roger Reynolds, but the execution is poles apart. We have put their work
together in this exhibition to contrast Aileen's loose vibrant interpretation -
capturing the essence of the flower, with Roger's detailed botanical approach.
MUSLIN
Fibrefusion, the textile group,
invite
you to view their book launch
exhibition where they have used
Muslin as the catalyst
of the textile art portrayed.
Sept 10th - Oct 15th 2011

As with all Fibrefusion books, the latest publication
'Muslin' is a 'workshop in a book', written to help
everyone who enjoys working with textiles to
extend and develop their creative spirit. This is a
hands-on-book to encourage the stimulation of
new ideas and ways of thinking with Muslin - the
highly versatile economic fabric - as a catalyst.

The Art of Jeanette Appleton
SOW:SEW
The Sale
Oct 29th - Dec 10th 2011
Please note change to previously published start date, with our apologies
Sow:Sew was the first major solo exhibition
by Jeanette Appleton. It featured over twenty
new pieces of work in felt and paper
that toured major galleries in 2008.

Sow:Sew explored ideas of marking, and approaches to making, that the artist had
developed during research into plant science at the John Innes Centre, Norwich as
well as experimental work on the industrial needlefelt and embroidery machinery at
Huddersfield University. Through these innovative and groundbreaking
contemporary felt works, Jeanette Appleton examined the relationship of making, by
hand or machine, and mark-making in visual arts and scientific practice.
The exhibition at Art Van Go will include pieces
from that series and all work will be for sale.
Leading up to Christmas and continuing throughout January the SOW:SEW exhibition will be supplemented by a mix of artworks in the gallery.
The display cabinets and shelves regularly hold jewellery, glass
and ceramics; we have a large range of greetings cards, many
produced by artists we know; prints and mounted originals are usually
displayed in the browsers; and there is Fairtrade
giftware, accessories, and jewellery available.
